Members of the ACE network, Southern REAP and Southern Adult Literacy once again united in support of Adult Learner's Week and World Literacy Day. Their combined efforts along with generous support of Skyline Enterprises and the Salvation Army resulted in a week of promoting the value of continued adult learning and literacy.
Promotional material and course information was displayed throughout the week at O'Connell's shopping centre food court. Salvation Army supported the celebration week as well with a free book giveaway on World Literacy Day.
The highlight of the week's events was a light luncheon followed by an introduction to the innovative "Speed Learning Tool". Her Worship the Mayor Vanessa van Uden was in attendance to present awards to eight members from the Adult Community Education Network in recognition of their contribution to adult learning. Finally a BIG thank you to Judy Williamson, the main coordinator of the week's events. We very much appreciate the time and effort that she puts in voluntarily.
